The Runway for Recovery Ilene Beal Legacy of Leadership 2025 Award Recipient Announced
Honoring Lindsay McGloughlin: Leading with Strength, Serving with Heart
We are honored to announce that Lindsay McGloughlin will receive the Ilene Beal Legacy of Leadership Award at this year’s 19th Annual Runway Show.
A trailblazer in every sense, Lindsay serves as a Fire Lieutenant and paramedic in her Concord community. She’s not only a two-time breast cancer survivor, but also a devoted mother and an unwavering source of strength for others. Lindsay broke barriers in her department, paving the way for more women in the fire service and uniting them into a powerful, supportive sisterhood.
Within the Runway for Recovery community, Lindsay is both a symbol and a soul: a model, a speaker, a supporter behind the curtain, and a woman who shows up, always, for those walking their own path through breast cancer. She’s helped shape our organization through her visibility, vulnerability, and voice (to listen her to tell her story in her own voice, see her video here).
In the words of one nominator:
“She empowers women in every space she enters. She has built a community of women who love and support her—and whom she fiercely supports in return.”
In the words of another nominator:
"She is not only a two-time survivor of breast cancer, but she has clearly built a community of women who love and support her - for whom she loves and supports. I’ve seen her walk the Runway, and I’ve watched her behind the curtain cheering on those who walk. Lindsay is a woman dedicated to empowering the breast cancer community and incredibly deserving of this award."
Lindsay’s story is one of bold leadership wrapped in quiet humility. She doesn’t ask for recognition, but instead, she shows up, again and again, for her community, her colleagues, her family, and the Runway community. Whether she’s stepping onto the fire truck or the runway stage, Lindsay leads with courage and empathy, always focused on lifting others up. Her presence at Runway events has been nothing short of transformational; she is backstage helping first-time models feel confident, she lends her voice to our mission in the most heartfelt and authentic ways. This award honors her service, but even more, it celebrates the way she makes people feel: seen, supported, and stronger because of her.
Lindsay lives the values Ilene Beal championed: visionary leadership, resilience, community, and compassion. We are proud to celebrate Lindsay's legacy-in-the-making and forever connect her to an inspirational Boston trailblazer.
Please join us in honoring Lindsay this October.
About the Ilene Beal Foundation
The Ilene Beal Foundation was established to honor the life and legacy of Ilene Beal, a pioneering Boston business leader, philanthropist, and advocate for equity and community advancement. As one of the few women to ascend to the highest levels of the banking industry, Ilene used her platform to champion the success of women and underrepresented voices. The foundation continues her life’s work by supporting initiatives that reflect her core values: visionary leadership, access to opportunity, compassion in service, and the empowerment of women.
Through strategic partnerships and grantmaking, the Ilene Beal Foundation invests in individuals and organizations that are building stronger, more inclusive communities—particularly in Boston and the surrounding region. Runway for Recovery is honored to partner with the Foundation in presenting the Ilene Beal Legacy of Leadership Award, which celebrates leaders who embody Ilene’s spirit of resilience, generosity, and transformative impact.
