Young Professionals Advisory Board

Bring your perspective. Build community. Help shape what comes next for Runway.

Runway for Recovery’s Young Professionals Advisory Board (YPAB) brings together emerging leaders ages 25–33 who want to use their ideas, experiences, networks and energy to help move our mission forward.

Our members come from different industries, communities and parts of the country, and they get involved in very different ways. This past year alone, YPAB members have been part of dozens of Runway events in their own backyards. They have stepped onto our runway alongside a parent impacted by breast cancer, modeled in memory of a parent they have lost, and volunteered backstage as mentors to some of our youngest models. They have introduced Runway to new companies and communities, created fundraising events, and brought new ideas to our organization.

Above all, they help keep Runway forward-thinking — continually bringing new perspectives, connections and ideas to the table.

What You'll Do

As a YPAB member, you'll have opportunities to:

  • Bring Runway into your own community through events, partnerships and volunteer opportunities.
  • Serve as an ambassador for our mission and introduce Runway to new people and networks.
  • Support Runway events across the country, including opportunities to work directly with our models and families.
  • Develop creative ideas for engaging the next generation of Runway supporters.
  • Build relationships with fellow YPAB members, Runway's Board of Directors and leaders across a wide range of industries.
  • Help shape how Runway grows while gaining meaningful nonprofit leadership and board experience.

There isn't one way to make an impact. One member might organize an event in their hometown, another might introduce a corporate partner, another might mentor a young model backstage, and another might bring an idea to the table that changes the way we do something. We want you to bring your own strengths, interests and perspective to Runway.

Leadership & Mentorship

YPAB members serve a two-year term and meet quarterly, primarily virtually, making it possible to participate from anywhere in the country.

Each member is matched with a member of Runway for Recovery's Board of Directors for mentorship and is invited to join our annual June meeting with the Board. The YPAB also comes together in person around the holidays in Boston for an opportunity to connect, celebrate and look ahead together.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for approximately 10 young professionals ages 25–33 from across the country and across industries.

You do not need nonprofit experience, fundraising experience or a personal connection to breast cancer to apply. Some of our members come to Runway because breast cancer or loss has touched their lives. Others are simply looking for a meaningful way to use their skills and energy to make a difference.

We want a diversity of backgrounds, experiences, industries and opinions around the table. We're looking for people who are curious, collaborative and willing to bring new ideas — people who will help us continue to see Runway through a fresh lens.

Applications are open through November 1.

Selected members will begin their two-year term on January 1.
