I often think that I do not have a story. But, when asked to share, I took some time to reflect on my journey. I am not sure it is possible to put into words how I have felt since receiving my diagnosis: grateful, guilty, scared, strong, anxious, hopeful to name a few but most of all loved and supported. I am so very blessed to be surrounded by my family and the most incredible people.

Three years ago I walked out of the front doors of Mass General Hospital with a new baby- my third, George. He was ready to come home and I knew my time in the maternity ward had come to a close. My time at MGH, however, would be far from over; in fact, the hospital and I have a long history and a forever future in front of us.

I had a friend tell me once that “time is a gift not everyone receives” and every year, when I am about to blow out the candles, I think of how lucky I am to be celebrating another year around the sun. While it is easy to complain about the number of candles on the cake getting larger, there is no greater lesson than the COVID pandemic as to why celebrations —big or small— are so meaningful. Let’s Walk Together. At the beginning of the pandemic, the goals for Runway were very straightforward: stay safe, keep people informed, increase the support for those we fund, and maintain a community for those coping with breast cancer. Funding our Runway families is the primary focus of our organization. We believe there are tangible ways to make a difference in the lives of children who have lost a mother to breast cancer by paying for wrap-around services for the family. Because of the incredible support of those in attendance at our Virtual Runway Show in October, we raised $293K! Because of you, we can continue to assist families and children who have applied to our Family Grants Program. Most recently, a family who applied for a grant, is made up of an 11-year-old girl and her maternal grandparents.…
