Brooke Phinney, Walking in memory of her grandmother, Frances Brooke Anderson (1973)
Since I walked in Runway 10 years ago, I’ve graduated from high school, graduated from college, moved into a new city, started a new job, run a marathon, and started another new job. I’ve encountered both challenges and victories in each new little life chapter, and throughout these past ten years, my mom has assumed so many different roles – the supportive advisor, the fun-loving jokester, the compassionate listener, and the amazing, hilarious, wonderful best friend. Since Runway 10 years ago, I think I’ve finally fully realized just how fortunate I am to have such a fabulous and spectacular mom. I know that if her mom had had the chance, she would have been the exact same way. And that marathon I ran with Dana Farber in Boston last year, that was for her.
