Rachael Asselin: Partner, Blue Matter Consulting

Rachael Asselin has been interested in the intersection between science and helping people since she was little. This interest grew stronger after her mother’s breast cancer diagnosis and unsuccessful treatment attempts when Rachael was 12 (she passed away when she was 14). Initially pre-med in college, Rachael ended up getting a degree in public health instead of going the direct patient-care route. Rachael worked at Biogen in Cambridge, MA for 15 years, after which she began consulting for a wide range of biotech and pharmaceutical companies. She is currently a partner at Blue Matter Consulting, a strategic life sciences consulting firm based in NY. Rachael has a master’s degree in Public Health from Boston University and a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Connecticut College. She met her husband Nick in college, and he ended up taking the medical school path and is now an ER doctor in multiple hospitals across Rhode Island. Most importantly, they have two gorgeous children — James Rilan and Margaret Ann (“Maisie”). Rachael and her family live in East Greenwich, Rhode Island.
