Runway for Recovery Funds Families Impacted by Breast Cancer

Runway’s founder and executive director, Olivia Boger, had the chance to sit down with Lisa Hughes from WBZ CBS Boston for her Change Makers segment last week. The two talked about how Runway has grown from 10 models and 75 guests to more than 100 models and 800 guests and the impact it has made on families affected by breast cancer over the past 17 years.

Lisa also had that chance to speak with Alexis Klimchenko of Methuen, MA whose family was funded by Runway through the Family Grants program. Alexis was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, or MBC, in 2021, not long after having her second daughter. Last year, she rocked the runway with her two daughters and will be back again this year—this time with her husband joining her.

As we head into Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are reminded that early detection can save lives so remember to schedule your regular mammogram, ultrasound, or MRI and don’t forget to “feel it on the first” and complete your self exams.

The 17th annual Runway Show will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 6:00 pm at Boston’s Westin Seaport hotel. Tickets are on sale now.
