Meet the Models, SoCal: Gail Ross
Gail Ross was heavily involved in the breast cancer community through Think Pink. Initially in honor of her friend’s mother, the team has raised money over the years to help those going through treatment. A mother herself, Gail felt the pull to take a step back around 2011 to focus on her children. On the heels of these feelings, Gail’s 33 year old niece, Erin was diagnosed with breast cancer and received a lumpectomy. It became clear Think Pink now represented something much bigger.
Unfortunately, in 2012 Erin had a recurrence and was diagnosed stage 4 metastatic. She passed away on October 1, 2012 at the age of 36, leaving behind a young daughter.
For Gail, Runway provides an opportunity to honor Erin’s journey on a bigger level: “I have always been a strong believer in supporting the community” and Gail uniquely understands that breast cancer does not just impact the patient, but weighs on everyone in a way that often needs support. It’s why she is excited to fundraise for families, like Erin’s, who need support most.
