Kristin Ferrari: Volunteer and Board Member
Kristin Ferrari lives in Bedford, Massachusetts, with her husband of 30 years, Peter Ferrari, President of Shields Health, and their three children: Alex (27), Emma (25), and Ryan (21).
In September 2012, at the age of 40, Kristin was diagnosed with Stage II invasive ductal carcinoma. One month later, she underwent a double mastectomy at Massachusetts General Hospital. This October, Kristin will proudly celebrate 14 years as a breast cancer survivor.
Kristin’s healing journey led her to Runway for Recovery, where she found a profound sense of belonging and purpose. Since then, she has become a deeply engaged and active member of the organization. Beyond her formal roles, Kristin has served as a trusted resource and compassionate supporter to countless women newly diagnosed with breast cancer, offering guidance, encouragement, and hope drawn from her own experience.
Kristin has been invited to share her story at several high-profile fundraising events, including the Pan-Mass Challenge, the Bedford Parent Association, and Relay For Life. In February 2020, she organized the Runway for Recovery Rally in Bedford, Massachusetts, raising more than $4,100 in a single day.
Professionally, Kristin spent seven years as an integral member of the Bedford High School Counseling Department, serving as Administrative Assistant to the Director. Prior to that role, she worked as a physician assistant at Winchester Hospital Chiropractic Center. She has also been an active and dedicated volunteer in her community, serving for many years on the Bedford Parent Association and Parent Council while her children were growing up.
Kristin continues to serve on the Board of Directors of Runway for Recovery and has contributed to numerous committees over the years. She is currently spearheading the launch of the organization’s new Young Professionals Advisory Board and will serve as Co-Chair of the Steering Committee for Runway for Recovery’s 20th Anniversary Celebration this October.
