Volunteer Care Team Member

Reports to: Director of Programs

Time Commitment: ~5–7 hours per week (flexible)

Location: Remote

Role Overview

Volunteer Care Team Members support families receiving Runway for Recovery Family Grants by providing compassionate check-ins, helping families feel heard and supported, and ensuring clear communication with the Programs team. This role is ideal for individuals who are empathetic, organized, and mission-driven, and who enjoy being part of a small, collaborative team.

Volunteers work closely with the Director of Programs and fellow Care Team members to ensure families have a positive, respectful experience throughout their grant period.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct virtual intake and check-in calls with Family Grant recipients and applicants
• Complete brief written summaries of calls for internal records
• Maintain regular, professional communication with the Director of Programs and Care Team
• Participate in weekly Care Team Zoom meetings
• Support families with warmth, empathy, and discretion throughout the grant process
• Assist with outreach or special projects as needed, based on interest and availability

Desired Qualifications

• Background or experience in healthcare, social services, nonprofit work, or a related helping profession (professional licenses welcome but not required)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Comfort handling sensitive information with care and confidentiality
• Organized, dependable, and responsive
• Comfortable using Zoom, email, and Google Workspace tools
• Ability to work independently while staying connected to a small team

Time & Commitment Details

• Approximately 5–7 hours per week (varies by week)
• Fully remote with flexible scheduling
• Availability for occasional check-ins during weekday hours (9 a.m. – 3 p.m. ET) is helpful
• Ability to connect with families across multiple time zones, including Pacific Time
