I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in June of 2011 at the age of 39.  At that time, it was determined, while we had no family history, that I was BRCA1 positive. I underwent a double mastectomy and chemo treatments with a bilateral oophorectomy in the spring, I had a local recurrence in Dec 2013, underwent chemo, radiation and a trial drug and have been disease free since. Yahoooo! I consider myself a thriver and cherish the journey!
