Meet the Models, SoCal: Holly Harmon
Holly Harmon graciously donated her time as a hair stylist to The Runway Show, SoCal in 2023 and after witnessing the event, knew it would be a perfect way to honor her mother, Denda.
Prior to Holly being born, her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at 27. She fought it, but it recurred again when Holly was in second grade. Treatment led to Denda’s loss of hair: “I actually got to shave her head and it is part of the reason I am a hairstylist because I want to help make people feel good.”
The cancer returned in 2024 and sadly, Denda passed away. Holly’s genetic testing, which she received at 18 years old, revealed she is positive for the BRCA gene. It makes cancer even more present in her day-to-day life. With so much sadness surrounding breast cancer in her life, Holly is excited to hit the runway to honor her mother’s legacy: “no matter what she was going through, she put her kids first. She wanted to make sure everyone was ok before herself. I want to do this to make my mom happy, but also to get closure and honor how hard she fought for so long.”
