Meet the Models: Lindsay McGloughlin
Lindsay McGloughlin, Survivor first diagnosed in 2013
I am so thrilled to be walking with Runway for Recovery for its spectacular 10th year! Runway has given me a reason to celebrate. I was diagnosed with cancer at age 28 and my son Charlie was only 18 months old. I thought my life was crumbling beneath me. Charlie was my strength, he kept me smiling and gave me something to fight for. He will never truly know how much he helped throughout my battle. After I was done with treatment and surgeries and the dust began to settle I was still lost. Cancer is a life changing diagnosis and just because you are “cancer free” does not mean you are free from the emotional toll it has taken on you and your family. When I first participated in Runway I was nervous – but that night my spirit was set free! For the first time I was dancing and celebrating ME and my survival! It was such an incredibly special moment for me to hear the crowd cheering and clapping and I finally realized I did it. I survived and I am going to continue to live my life. Runway helped send that confidence through my veins and inspire me to keep dancing though life. Now for the second year I get to have Charlie by my side. My best friend, my biggest fan, and the number one reason I fought as hard as I did – he will dance with his Momma! We will dance and rejoice and celebrate – and we have Runway for Recovery to thank for these incredible, life changing moments.
