Lillian Beck: Employment Recruiter, Capital Markets, CBRE

Lillian Beck’s mother, Noreen Beck, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer in 1998 and quickly became immersed in the breast cancer charity community for 10 years until her passing. From young ages, Lilly and her brother watched her mom walk and take on major fundraising efforts for Relay for Life, Avon 3-Day 60-Mile Breast Cancer Walk and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Boston. Lilly’s mom with three close friends started a 3-day 60-mile breast cancer walk of their own called Just ‘Cause. The walk donated 100% of its proceeds to the Virginia Thurston Healing Garden in Harvard and the Gillette Center for Breast Cancer at MGH. After 15 years, the grassroots walk ended and raised over $1.5M. Lilly participated from 2009-2017 (“I went from not having a mom to having 50 moms for one weekend every year for each step during those 60 miles”) and was on the board of directors for the final three years.

Lilly is overjoyed and feels so incredibly lucky to have heard about this organization growing up through the breast cancer community, and introduced to Olivia through her friend and Runway volunteer, Holly Foster. Lilly started as a volunteer family grant liaison in 2021 and has since helped with check-in for the Boston event and led a Rally for Runway event at Barry’s Bootcamp. From empowering Lilly to take the BRCA genetic test, to introducing her to others who have lost a parent to breast cancer to allowing her to help families impacted by breast cancer, Lilly feels closer to her mom now more than ever thanks to Runway.

In the past few years before finding Runway, Lilly ran the Boston Marathon for MGH’s pediatric cancer center. She became involved in the Esplanade Association and was selected to be a co-chair at their Dock Party last year. Lilly grew up in Bolton, MA and attended Lawrence Academy (‘09) and Connecticut College (’13) where she double majored in Psychology and Architectural Studies. She has her MBA from Boston University’s Questrom School of Business (’19) and currently leads CBRE’s capital markets national recruiting. She resides in Boston with her elderly rescue Shepherd mix, Matka (when the Animal Rescue League of Boston told her “Matka” meant mom in Polish, it was a done deal) and fiancé.
