Play for Runway: St. John’s Prep vs. Xaverian Brothers

On October 22, St. John’s Prep and Xaverian Brothers will take the field for their 5th annual Play for Runway soccer game.

What started in 2022 has become an incredible tradition between these two school communities. The first game was brought to life by St. John’s Prep alum Tyler Schwalm, who saw an opportunity to turn the energy surrounding this matchup into something bigger. Today, Tyler continues his commitment to Runway as a member of our Young Professional Advisory Board.

Five years later, the impact continues to grow. Together, St. John’s Prep and Xaverian Brothers have raised more than $20,000 for Runway for Recovery since 2022. Each year, student-athletes, coaches, families, and friends from both schools come together to see how much more they can do for Runway families.

Runway for Recovery provides meaningful financial and emotional support to families navigating metastatic breast cancer and the loss of a parent. Through our Family Grants, we help pay for the everyday things that keep children connected to what they love — sports registration, summer camp, music lessons, tutoring, dance classes, and other extracurricular activities — along with needs like groceries, childcare, therapy, tuition, and housing.
