Newburyport Girls’ Lacrosse Play for Runway — Year 1

In their inaugural season, the student athletes of Newburyport Girls’ Lacrosse are already making an impact far beyond the field through their first-ever Play for Runway event — led by senior captain Phoebe Whitcomb.

As part of Runway for Recovery’s national Play for Runway initiative, athletes across the country dedicate games throughout the school year to honoring those impacted by breast cancer while raising critical funds for Runway’s Family Grants Program. These grants provide meaningful financial support to families navigating the challenges of metastatic breast cancer or loss, helping them maintain a sense of normalcy during an incredibly difficult time.

For Phoebe and her teammates, launching this effort in their very first season speaks volumes about the culture they are building — one rooted in leadership, compassion, and purpose. With determination and heart, the team is rallying their school and community to come together in support of families facing breast cancer. This is the Clippers
