East Whittier Middle School is Playing for Runway!

On October 1, East Whittier Middle School will kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month by turning its Fall Sports Pep Rally into a special Pink Out benefiting Runway for Recovery.

Led by the school’s ASB/Leadership students, the East Whittier community will come together in pink to raise awareness, honor people in their lives who have been impacted by breast cancer, and raise funds for families navigating metastatic breast cancer and the loss of a parent.

Students will incorporate Play for Runway into the pep rally through pink shirts and signs where they can share the names of people they are participating in honor of or in memory of. They will also learn more about Runway’s work and the Southern California families their fundraising will directly help support.

Funds raised will help Runway for Recovery provide direct financial assistance and a community of support to families facing metastatic or terminal breast cancer, or grieving the loss of a parent to the disease. Runway helps families with everything from groceries and household expenses to childcare, tutoring, camps, sports, and other needs that allow families to focus on what matters most: time together.
