Meet the Models: Erin Hackman

To all of you out there, I am a SURVIVOR…….and a mother, sister, daughter, friend, wife, one of you! I’m doing what I can to give the world, and others, the best of what I have to give.  Who am I personally?  Well, my proudest accomplishment is being the mother of five amazing kids and being married to my best friend for 24 years now.  I am a nurse, but have been home working since my oldest was young.  My kids range from 6yrs to 21yrs old, thats 1st grade to college! Four daughters and a son. We recently moved to Concord, MA, which instantly became home.  We thought we’d add more love to our home, so during the move found a home with room for my in-laws to join us.  Yes, that’s right, we have 9 people, and English bulldog, and two kitties under one roof.  It’s a great place to be!  I am 51yrs young now.  I was originally diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 46. I went through a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation, the cancer had spread to my lymph nodes.  We lived in Maryland at the time, with no family near, but great friends and our community rallied around us.  We thought if we went at the cancer hard we would be done with it.  Fast forward to April 2016, I am diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer to my sternum and lymph nodes, UGH!  Not a great surprise.  Next challenge on board!  I am currently being seen at Dana Farber in Boston, on hormone treatment and oral chemotherapy.  I am also living life well, no pun intended!  I plan on beating the odds and living as a survivor for many years to come.  Amen?!  Let me just say that God’s Grace gets my family through all of this!
