Dorothy Burnham: Vice President, Verisk

Dorothy Kelly Burnham is a lifelong Massachusetts resident, and currently lives in Newburyport with her husband and two children. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018 after finding a lump while nursing her infant son. After undergoing breast cancer treatment, Dorothy was introduced to Runway for Recovery by attending a Rally for Runway spin class at Fuel Training Studio in Newburyport. Dorothy has fundraised and volunteered for Runway organization since that time. Dorothy and her husband James participated in the 2020 Runway for Recovery virtual show and she walked in the 2021 Runway show in Boston in person.

While fundraising for Runway for Recovery is Dorothy’s priority and passion, she enjoys participating in other events related to raising community awareness and raising funds for breast cancer organizations – especially events that include outdoor activities. Dorothy is a 7-time participant in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day 60-mile walk. She and her family participate in the Sugarloaf Charity Summit, which includes a two-mile winter climb and alpine ski event and benefits the Martha B. Webber Breast Care Center, the Maine Cancer Foundation, and The Dempsey Center. Currently, Dorothy is learning how to swim so she can participate in the Portland, Maine Tri for a Cure this summer, which benefits the Maine Cancer Foundation.

In her professional career, Dorothy has held leadership and executive roles within financial services businesses, including co-founding two successful insurance services startups. Dorothy is currently Vice President of a product management group at a data and analytics company in the greater New York City area. Dorothy looks forward to leveraging her business experience and corporate background in her role with Runway for Recovery’s Board of Directors.
