What has Runway meant to your family?

For Anne Bunn, Runway has been a treasured night for her family.

“R4R celebrates and honors families that have been impacted by cancer,” Anne shared in 2016.

That is part of what makes the night so meaningful.

Cancer is often something people want to bury, avoid, or forget. Runway does something different. It takes a painful topic and shows the bright side.

For Anne’s family, the event is a reminder that cancer is part of their story, but it is not the whole story.

“Cancer is just part of our story,” Anne said, “something we went through but that does not define who we are.”

Runway also gives her children something important to see.

They see that their family is not alone.

They see other families who understand. They see a community that can hold the weight of cancer while still making room for joy.

This year, we are celebrating Anne and her family’s place in the Runway community. We are celebrating the reminder that cancer does not get to define a family. And we are celebrating the bright side that Runway helps so many families find together.
