Kristin Ferrari’s Story
20th Anniversary Boston Model, Completed Treatment and Co-chair!
How has breast cancer affected your life?
Kristin Ferrari was diagnosed with Stage II invasive ductal carcinoma in September 2012, at the age of 40.
One month later, she underwent a double mastectomy at Massachusetts General Hospital.
This October, Kristin will proudly celebrate 14 years as a breast cancer survivor.
Kristin lives in Bedford, Massachusetts, with her husband, Peter, and their three children, Alex, Emma, and Ryan.
What has Runway meant to you?
Kristin’s healing journey led her to Runway for Recovery.
Through Runway, she found a profound sense of belonging and purpose. Since then, she has become a deeply engaged member of the organization and a trusted source of support for women who are newly diagnosed.
Kristin offers guidance, encouragement, and hope from her own experience.
She is also a member of Runway for Recovery’s Board of Directors and a co-chair for this year’s show, helping bring the 20th Anniversary celebration to life.
What is your favorite part of the Runway Show?
In 2020, Kristin shared that her favorite part of the Runway Show was seeing her R4R family.
For Kristin, the night is about hugging, catching up, sharing smiles, meeting new models, seeing old ones, hearing the music, and listening to the stories.
It is also about feeling loved and special.
She loves seeing the stylists who take care of the models, the hair and makeup team who make everyone feel glamorous, and most of all, seeing Olivia’s hard work come to life.
What helped you through hard times?
In 2020, Kristin shared that having her whole family under one roof was keeping her happy.
“My whole family under one roof is keeping this mama happy,” she said.
She also described herself as a positive person, even when that positivity was being tested. During a hard time, she tried to keep looking for the light and imagine the day when everyone could return to life again, whatever the new normal would be.
Her favorite quote was, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”
What are we celebrating this year?
This year, we are celebrating Kristin’s 14 years of survivorship.
We are also celebrating Kristin’s leadership.
As a Board member and co-chair of this year’s show, Kristin is not only walking in the Runway community. She is helping shape it. This October, she will be part of the magic both on stage and behind the scenes.
