Why are you walking the Runway this year?

Alexis Klimchenko’s husband is walking in her memory.

“We lost Alexis to breast cancer three years ago,” he shares.

This year, he is walking to honor who Alexis was and to support the organization that stood beside their family when they needed it most.

Who was Alexis?

Alexis did not just walk into a room. She lit it up.

Strangers left feeling like old friends. People who had been having the worst day walked away smiling.

“She had a gift for making everyone around her feel seen, special, and a little more loved than before she got there,” her husband shares.

That is the Alexis he wants people to remember.

She brought warmth into ordinary moments. She made people feel welcome. She brightened days just by being herself.

What does it mean to walk in her memory?

For Alexis’s husband, walking the Runway is a way to carry her light forward.

“She was 100% the kind of person this world can’t afford to lose,” he says, “and the kind of person too many families are still losing.”

His walk is about honoring Alexis, but it is also about the families still facing breast cancer now.

It is a way to remember what was lost while helping support the people still in the middle of it.

What has Runway meant to your family?

Runway for Recovery was there for Alexis’s family during their hardest moments.

Her husband describes Runway as an incredible organization that continues to show up for families fighting this fight every day.

“They show up when it matters most,” he says.

That support stayed with him.

Now, walking in Alexis’s memory is also a way to pay that kindness forward.

How can people honor Alexis?

Alexis made people feel seen.

She made people feel welcome.

She made people smile.

“If Alexis ever made you smile, made you feel welcome, or just brightened your day,” her husband says, “please donate in her memory.”

This October, he walks for Alexis, for the love she gave so freely, and for the families Runway continues to support.
