SUMMARY:Play for Runway: Trevor Day School
DESCRIPTION:This October\, Trevor Day School is once again turning its athletic fields and courts pink for Play for Runway! \nStudents across Trevor’s athletic program will be dedicating games to Runway for Recovery\, raising funds and awareness for families navigating metastatic breast cancer and the loss of a parent. What begins with two games in early October will grow throughout the month as teams across the school join the effort. \nThe first Play for Runway games are: \n\nOctober 6 — 7th/8th Grade Girls Fire Volleyball\nOctober 13 — JV Girls Tennis\n\nAdditional games are being planned for Varsity Tennis\, Varsity Soccer\, JV Soccer\, Cross-Country\, Middle School Soccer and Track\, with the goal of bringing the entire Trevor athletics community together for Play for Runway. \nTrevor students have already made an incredible impact through this partnership\, raising nearly $6\,000 for Runway for Recovery. This year\, Lily and Hannah Kazanoff are carrying that effort forward\, giving their classmates an opportunity to turn Breast Cancer Awareness Month into meaningful action for families who need it. \nAt each game\, students will have the opportunity to play in honor or memory of someone impacted by breast cancer while raising funds that provide tangible support for Runway families — helping with needs like groceries\, housing\, transportation\, childcare and other everyday expenses during an extraordinarily difficult time. \nWe are so grateful to Lily\, Hannah\, Trevor Day School\, and every student\, family\, coach and team joining us this October. SUMMARY:Play for Runway: Riverdale Country School
DESCRIPTION:Riverdale Country School is Playing for Runway! \nOn Friday\, October 9\, Riverdale’s football and tennis teams will come together for a special Play for Runway evening\, continuing a partnership between Riverdale and Runway for Recovery that has now grown across several years\, sports\, and generations of students. \nThe connection began with Savannah Phillips. As a three-year-old\, Savannah watched her mom\, Kathryn\, go through breast cancer treatment. She also grew up in the Runway community alongside her mom\, meeting other children who had experienced breast cancer in their families and learning that Runway could also be a place for joy\, hope\, and\, of course\, dancing. \nToday\, Kathryn works for Runway for Recovery\, helping families navigate some of the hardest moments of their lives — and Savannah has been able to see the other side of the organization she grew up with: the work of providing direct financial assistance and a community of support to families facing metastatic or terminal breast cancer\, or grieving the loss of a parent to the disease. \nSavannah brought that connection to Riverdale\, and other students have continued to carry it forward. Finn Ptashek organized Play for Runway events through both hockey and lacrosse\, and this year\, Abigail Fischbach and Cristina Oh have taken the lead together in bringing Runway back to Riverdale for one of the school’s fall spotlight athletic evenings. Abigail and Cristina are co-leaders of Riverdale’s breast cancer club\, and Cristina has been part of this effort from the beginning — showing up\, helping at events\, and working alongside Abigail to make tonight possible. \nTogether\, Riverdale students have already raised more than $14\,000 for Runway. \nThat is exactly what Play for Runway is meant to be: young people taking something they already love — their team\, their sport\, their school community — and using it to make a meaningful difference for another family. \nOn October 9\, Riverdale athletes will wear Runway’s signature pink socks\, honor those in their lives who have been impacted by breast cancer\, and raise funds to help Runway provide financial assistance\, resources\, and connection to the families we serve. \nFriday\, October 9\nRiverdale Country School\nFootball + Tennis\nMore than $14\,000 raised by Riverdale students \nWe are so grateful to Savannah for beginning this tradition\, to Finn for helping it grow\, to Abigail & Cristina for carrying it forward\, and to the Riverdale community for continuing to Play for Runway. \nDonate

DESCRIPTION:Runway is heading to Lehigh University! \nOn Friday\, October 16\, Runway for Recovery YPAB member Tyler Schwalm is bringing Rally for Runway to campus with Pink Pilates\, in collaboration with Lehigh Campus Recreation. \nTyler has been an incredible champion of Runway\, and after recently representing us at Play for Runway in New York City\, he is now bringing the mission back to his own campus community. \nStudents are invited to join Tyler for an hour of Pink Pilates while turning Breast Cancer Awareness Month into meaningful action. Come dressed in pink\, move together\, and help raise funds and awareness for families facing metastatic or terminal breast cancer\, or grieving the loss of a parent to the disease. \nFunds raised will support Runway for Recovery’s work providing direct financial assistance and a community of support to families\, helping with everyday needs including groceries\, household expenses\, childcare\, tutoring\, camps\, sports\, and activities for children. \nFriday\, October 16\n4:30–5:30 p.m.\n3rd Floor Studio\, Taylor Gym\nLehigh University \nWe are so grateful to Tyler and Lehigh Campus Recreation for bringing Rally for Runway to campus and giving Lehigh students a way to turn Breast Cancer Awareness Month into action.

DESCRIPTION:The Chapin School is Playing for Runway! \nThis Breast Cancer Awareness Month\, the captains of Chapin’s fall sports teams are bringing their school community together once again to Play for Runway — turning athletics into meaningful support for families navigating metastatic breast cancer and the loss of a parent. \nChapin’s connection to Runway began with a student reaching out to another student. In 2022\, Savannah Phillips introduced Play for Runway to Chapin. Savannah had grown up in the Runway community after watching her mom go through breast cancer treatment when she was just three years old\, and she wanted to give other young people a way to use their teams and communities to make a difference. \nChapin took that idea and ran with it. In 2023\, all six fall teams joined together for the school’s first Play for Runway\, with captains and coaches helping lead the effort across cross country\, field hockey\, soccer\, tennis\, and volleyball. \nAnd what this community has accomplished is incredible. \nIn just two years of Playing for Runway\, Chapin has raised $19\,611.83 — $9\,046.51 in 2023 and $10\,565.32 in 2024 — to support the families Runway serves. \nNow\, Chapin is bringing Play for Runway back\, led by the captains of its fall sports teams. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month\, these student leaders will rally their teammates and school community to honor those impacted by breast cancer while raising critical funds for families facing metastatic or terminal breast cancer\, or grieving the loss of a parent to the disease. \nFunds raised help Runway provide direct financial assistance and a community of support\, helping families with groceries\, household expenses\, tutoring\, camps\, sports\, activities\, and other needs that keep children supported during an incredibly difficult time. \nWe are so to the Chapin captains\, coaches\, athletes\, and families who have made Play for Runway their own. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special Rally for Runway ride at SoulCycle Georgetown\, hosted by Runway for Recovery Model and George Washington University senior Charlotte Goodman\, alongside Runway for Recovery Young Professional Advisory Board member Nya Gavin. \nRunway for Recovery has been part of Charlotte’s family for years. Her mom\, Liz Silverman\, is a breast cancer survivor and longtime Runway Model\, and Charlotte grew up seeing firsthand the power of a community that shows up for families impacted by breast cancer. Now\, during her senior year at GW\, she is bringing that community to Washington\, DC. \nCharlotte will be joined by Nya Gavin\, who also grew up on the Runway. Nya modeled alongside her mother\, Crystal Davis\, and witnessed the incredible strength her mother showed throughout her breast cancer diagnosis. \nTogether\, Charlotte and Nya represent the next generation of Runway for Recovery—young women who grew up surrounded by this community and are now finding their own ways to carry its mission forward. \nOn Saturday\, October 24\, we’ll fill the SoulCycle Georgetown studio for an inspirational ride with a purpose.
