Meet the Models: David Duane

By Caroline O'Donnell | September 20, 2017

David Duane, Walking in memory of his mother, Rita Duane (2009.) We are walking for a beloved mom… a beloved Nonni…. A beloved Aunt Rita. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, treatment was successful, but then she was diagnosed with another form of cancer – leiomeiosarcoma in 2007 and passed away shortly after Christmas in 2009. Rita remains an inspiration to the family she loved dearly, the friends from everywhere, and the three boys (4 including husband Jack) that made up the “Duane Locker Room”.  Rita’s laughter and optimism was infectious, and her love endures. We love you mom.

Nya Gavin, Walking in celebration of her mother, Crystal Davis (survivor since 2008.)  I found out my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was twelve. It was also the summer before I was to start my school, Boston Latin. I remember being nervous about starting a new school but also worried about what my mom was going through. Despite being diagnosed with breast cancer and going through numerous chemo treatments, my mom still…
